Terms of Service

Last revised: September 13, 2026. Terms version: 2026-09-13.

These Terms govern your use of Fingerprint (the "Service"), provided by Fingerprint Tool, Corp., a Delaware corporation with a registered office at 131 Continental Dr, Suite 305, Newark, Delaware 19713 ("we", "us"). By creating an account or using the Service you agree to these Terms and our Privacy Policy.

1. The Service

Fingerprint helps you develop your writing voice. It analyzes how you write and generates working drafts as a starting point for your review and revision, organizes your course deadlines and readings, and provides an AI-detection report for generated drafts and their saved edited versions. It is a writing aid, not a guarantee.

All generated drafts are AI-generated starting points โ€” not finished work. You must review, revise, and make each draft your own before use.

Detector results are signals, not proof of authorship or misconduct, and AI-generated text requires your review, fact-checking, and editing before submission.

Text generated by the Service is produced by artificial intelligence. It is not your original authored work. Submitting AI-generated work as your own may violate your institution's academic-integrity policy and may violate applicable law.

You are solely responsible for how you use drafts and detector results, including compliance with your own institution's academic-integrity policies. Fingerprint is not affiliated with your school and does not authorize or encourage submitting AI-generated work as your own. See our Academic Integrity Policy for how the Service is meant to be used.

2. Accounts

  • You must provide accurate information and keep your login credentials secure.
  • Some sign-in methods (Google) are provided by third parties; your use of those accounts remains subject to their terms.
  • You are responsible for activity under your account.

By creating a product account or using product features, you confirm that you are at least 18. Earlier 13+ confirmations do not qualify. Existing restricted accounts retain cancellation, recovery and data-rights access without making an adult attestation. See Section 10 and our Privacy Policy.

3. Your content

You retain ownership of the material you upload, import, and create. You grant us a limited license to store and process it solely to provide the Service (including sending it to AI/detector providers for the requests you make).

Writing profile. When you provide writing samples, you expressly consent to Fingerprint analyzing those samples and constructing a writing-style profile for the sole purpose of generating style-informed drafts for your review and revision. Your writing profile is used exclusively to provide the Service to you. Relevant profiles, writing samples and context are sent to DeepSeek for inference, including automatic preparation when enabled. We do not sell your profile or use it to train our own models; provider terms and processing outside the United States are described in the Privacy Policy. Profile removal is part of the account-deletion process, including its disclosed recovery limitations.

You are responsible for having the right to use the content you import, and for complying with the terms of the services you connect (e.g., Google, Microsoft, Canvas, Notion, Zoom).

4. Acceptable use

You agree not to use the Service to:

  • Infringe others' rights or violate any applicable law.
  • Submit AI-generated drafts produced by the Service as your own original work in satisfaction of an academic requirement, without substantive review and revision. Fingerprint is a writing aid; its output is a starting point, not a finished submission.
  • Violate your institution's academic-integrity or acceptable-use policies.
  • Use the AI-detection feature to iteratively modify drafts for the purpose of evading AI detection.
  • Upload unlawful content, malware, or content that violates applicable law.
  • Attempt to bypass usage limits, abuse, overload, or probe the Service.

We may suspend or terminate product access for violations. Cancellation, account recovery and legally required privacy rights remain available.

5. Subscriptions & billing

Access to metered features requires a paid subscription of $12.00 per month, billed through our payment processor (Stripe) on a monthly basis unless otherwise stated. Your subscription renews automatically each month until you cancel. You may cancel online at any time from Account โ†’ Billing; cancellation stops future renewal once confirmed, with paid-through access ending at the current billing period's end. Cancellation requests that encounter provider failures remain pending for retry and must not be treated as confirmed. Fees are non-refundable except as required by law. We may change pricing with notice; changes apply to a later billing period after the applicable advance notice. The initial seven-day no-card grace period does not automatically convert to a subscription.

To the extent a subscriber is a minor, the minor (or their parent or guardian) may cancel or disaffirm the subscription as permitted by law. If you believe you were charged after a free trial without your consent, contact [email protected] and we will promptly review the charge.

6. Third-party services

The Service integrates with third parties (Canvas, Google, Microsoft, Notion, GoodNotes, Zoom, the drafting model provider, the AI detector, Stripe). Those services are governed by their own terms and privacy policies. DeepSeek remains the drafting provider; GPTZero scans generated drafts and saved edits. Fingerprint does not programmatically submit assignments, upload work for submission or write Canvas calendar events. You copy/export your exact reviewed draft and independently upload and submit it in Canvas. Ordinary Canvas sync can read accepted submission status to update your plan. Opening Canvas or copying/uploading a draft does not prove Canvas accepted the submission. We are not responsible for their availability or conduct.

7. Disclaimer & liability

The Service is provided "as is" and "as available", without warranties of any kind. To the maximum extent permitted by law, our aggregate liability arising out of these Terms or your use of the Service is limited to the amounts you paid us in the twelve months preceding the claim.

In no event will we be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages, or any loss of profits, revenue, data, or goodwill, whether based in contract, tort, strict liability, or otherwise, even if we have been advised of the possibility of such damages.

Without limiting the foregoing, we are not liable for any academic, professional, disciplinary, or legal consequences arising from your use of AI-generated drafts or detector results, including consequences of submitting AI-generated text or relying on detection scores.

8. Termination

You may stop using the Service at any time; deleting your account removes your workspace data as described in the Privacy Policy. We may terminate or suspend access for breach of these Terms.

9. Modifications

We may update these Terms from time to time. We will notify you of material changes by posting the updated Terms and updating the "Last revised" date. Your continued use of the Service after changes take effect constitutes your acceptance of the revised Terms.

10. Children

The Service is intended for enrolled college and university students and educators aged 18 and older. Under-18 users cannot create product accounts or use product features. Authorized representatives and restricted account holders retain account rights as described in the Privacy Policy.

11. Governing law

These Terms are governed by the laws of the State of Delaware, without regard to conflict-of-law rules.
